Who Is Hammerstone & What Drives Them?

Hammerstone is an Australian, veteran-owned technology, engineering and sustainment company that designs, delivers and supports smart logistics solutions. We combine operational experience, systems engineering and digital platforms to make logistics visible, reliable and deployable — helping Defence, government and industry to plan, operate and sustain capability with confidence.

Unlike firms focused solely on software or prediction, Hammerstone delivers end-to-end outcomes: integrating digital logistics platforms, autonomous and deployable systems, and through-life support to reduce logistics burden, improve readiness and enable sustained operations in challenging environments. Our solutions are proven in real-world use, designed for constrained, contested and infrastructure-limited conditions, and built to perform across the full lifecycle — from concept and deployment through sustainment and continuous improvement.

Founded by Defence veterans and industry leaders, Hammerstone combines operational experience with engineering discipline to deliver practical, deployable solutions. Our work strengthens sovereign capability, reduces risk and improves readiness across Defence and complex operational environments.

Hammerstone is an Australian, veteran-owned technology, engineering and sustainment company founded in 2015. The business was built by Defence veterans and industry leaders to deliver smart logistics solutions for complex and remote operations — combining operational experience with engineering discipline. Hammerstone is an Australian, veteran-owned technology, engineering and sustainment company that designs, delivers and supports smart logistics solutions for complex and remote operations.

While Hammerstone’s solutions are proven in Defence environments — including coalition experimentation at Project Convergence Capstone 5 with Australian, US and UK forces — the same capabilities apply to mining, oil and gas, remote infrastructure and any industrial operation where logistics failure has serious consequences and systems must perform reliably with limited support infrastructure.

Hammerstone holds three ISO certifications: ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), certified through JAS-ANZ accredited bodies. Hammerstone is also a Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) participant and a Veteran Employment Supporter, recognising its commitment to employing veterans in the Australian defence technology sector.

Hammerstone’s strength is in combining project management, systems engineering and supportability thinking into a single, coherent delivery method.

Hammerstone delivers end-to-end — project management, systems engineering and Integrated Product Support working together under a single accountable approach rather than as separate service lines. This means capabilities are designed for supportability from day one, delivery is governed with discipline, and through-life performance is planned alongside the initial design. Hammerstone maintains an ISO-certified Business Management System underpinning all delivery.

Hammerstone is led by Managing Director Matthew Shea — a Defence industry specialist and Board Director with more than 25 years’ experience in military command, major infrastructure delivery and high-growth technology ventures. The leadership team also includes General Manager Matt Hanlon, a founding member of the business with deep expertise in systems engineering, ILS and product development across military vehicles and communications systems, and General Manager IPS Mark Redman, a 30-year Systems Engineering and IPS professional with backgrounds across the UK Ministry of Defence, Frazer-Nash Consultancy and KBR.
