Hammerstone Integrated Product Support (IPS)

Delivering and Sustaining Mission-Ready Capability

Delivering Capability That Stays Mission Ready

Hammerstone understands that delivering capability is only the start and that Operational advantage comes from delivering, sustaining, upgrading, and supporting a capability throughout its life.

At Hammerstone, we take ownership of the full support solution development from day one. Our experienced Integrated Product Support (IPS) team ensures Mission and Support System capabilities are reliable, affordable, upgradable, mission-ready and sustainable.

Hammerstone IPS enables:

Integration from day one across engineering, logistics, training and operations

Upfront investment that enables downstream cost savings through targeted supportability analysis strategies

Elimination of silos with shared accountability built into every phase

Measurable readiness outcomes that make sustainment visible, valued, and data-driven

The 12 IPS Elements:
A Complete Framework for Sustainment Excellence

Hammerstone delivers all 12 IPS elements, taking accountability for planning, integration, and delivery. Combined, these elements create a support solution that is sustainable, cost-effective, and operationally agile, ensuring Enhanced Operational Effectiveness and Improved Fleet Readiness across Defence and industry programs.

Product Support Management

What it is: The coordination function that holds IPS together, managing strategy, risk, and integration across all other elements.

Why it matters: Without strong product support management, gaps appear, costs rise, and readiness drops. This element ensures every aspect of sustainment is tracked, integrated, and delivered effectively.

How Hammerstone delivers: We take ownership of the full lifecycle, producing Integrated Logistics Support Plans, sustainment strategies, risk registers, and program coordination frameworks. Our approach ensures Asset Management principles are embedded throughout, aligning with ISO 55000 standards where required.

Design Interface

What it is: Engineering supportability into the system from the start, ensuring maintainability, operability, and lifecycle affordability are designed in, not added later.

Why it matters: Catching support issues late can blow budgets and reduce system availability. Early design integration reduces total cost of ownership and improves long-term performance.

How Hammerstone delivers: We work with engineers and designers early in the program, providing supportability analyses, maintenance concepts and design-for-support recommendations. Our team bridges the gap between design and sustainment, ensuring systems are built to be supported.

Workforce & Personnel

What it is: Ensuring the workforce has the right skills, qualifications, and numbers at the right time to support capability throughout its lifecycle.

Why it matters: Even the most advanced system fails if operators and maintainers aren’t properly trained, staffed, or aligned to mission requirements.

How Hammerstone delivers: We conduct workforce planning, skill-gap analysis, and competency framework development. Our team manages role definitions, recruitment support, upskilling strategies, and transition planning to ensure the workforce is aligned with capability needs and ready to deliver.

Training & Training Support

What it is: Ensuring personnel are confident, competent, and capable of operating and maintaining systems effectively.

Why it matters: Skills gaps lead to mistakes, downtime, safety risks, and reduced mission readiness. Well-trained teams perform better and keep systems running longer.

How Hammerstone delivers: We follow the ADDDE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Delivery, Evaluation) to create comprehensive training packages, courseware, job aids, and training delivery programs. We take accountability for building workforce competence and confidence across operations and maintenance disciplines.

Facilities & Infrastructure

What it is: The workshops, training centres, depots, warehousing, and operational spaces required to support capability throughout its lifecycle.

Why it matters: Poorly planned or under-resourced facilities slow maintenance, reduce readiness, and increase costs. Infrastructure must be fit for purpose from day one.

How Hammerstone delivers: We conduct facility assessments, planning, upgrade coordination, and operational layout design. Our team takes ownership to ensure facilities are aligned to operational, storage, and maintenance requirements and ready when capability is delivered.

Computer Resources

What it is: Software support, data integration, configuration management, and digital system updates that keep modern, software-driven capability operational.

Why it matters: Modern systems are increasingly reliant on software. Poor software support or configuration management disrupts operations and reduces readiness. Cyber resilience is now a critical sustainment consideration.

How Hammerstone delivers: We provide software support planning, configuration management, data integration strategies, and update management. Our approach ensures systems remain supportable, reliable, secure, and mission-ready throughout their lifecycle, supporting Military IoT Software and edge-to-enterprise connectivity.

Supply Support

What it is: Ensuring the right parts, consumables, and repairable assets are available when and where they’re needed.

Why it matters: Poor supply planning equals downtime, frustrated operators, and higher costs. Effective Supply Support drives fleet availability and operational readiness.

How Hammerstone delivers: We use trusted tools like OPUS10 for Provisioning Spares Analysis, inventory optimisation, and supply chain coordination. Our team takes accountability for demand forecasting and ensuring operators get what they need without overspending, supporting Digitally Integrated Supply Chains and Sense and Respond Logistics (S&RL).

Support Equipment

What it is: The tools, test gear, calibration equipment, and specialised devices needed to maintain systems safely and efficiently.

Why it matters: Without the right support equipment, maintenance can’t happen efficiently, safely, or to the required standard.

How Hammerstone delivers: We develop tooling lists, calibration schedules, and equipment readiness tracking systems. Our approach ensures operators and maintainers always have what they need to keep capability operational, integrated with Autonomous Systems support where applicable (Re-Arm, Re-Fuel, Re-Load functions).

Packaging, Handling, Storage & Transportation (PHS&T)

What it is: Protecting capability from factory to field through proper packaging, handling procedures, storage requirements, and transport planning.

Why it matters: Poor packaging or storage can damage equipment, compromise performance, or create costly delays. Transport restrictions around climate, security, or safety must be planned for in advance.

How Hammerstone delivers: We develop packaging specifications, movement and climate requirements, and transport and storage plans that ensure equipment integrity throughout the logistics chain, supporting In-Transit Visibility (ITV) and secure supply chain operations.

Technical Data

What it is: The manuals, procedures, codification data, LSAR information, and configuration documentation that enable effective operation and maintenance.

Why it matters: Without accurate, accessible, and complete technical data, maintenance slows, errors occur, and readiness suffers. Quality data underpins every sustainment decision.

How Hammerstone delivers: We develop and manage technical manuals, maintenance procedures, codification packages using Unique Identification (UID) and Automatic Identification Technology (AIT), LSAR data, and configuration control documentation. Our documentation supports data-driven decision-making and ensures teams have reliable information when they need it, aligned with S1000D standards where required.

Maintenance Planning & Management

What it is: Optimising maintenance strategies to maximise availability, reduce total cost of ownership, and prevent failures before they occur.

Why it matters: Poor maintenance planning leads to more failures, reduced availability, and increased lifecycle costs. This element ensures maintenance is effective, efficient, and data-driven.

How Hammerstone delivers: We apply proven analysis techniques including Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMECA), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and Predictive Logistics strategies to develop maintenance task lists, preventive schedules, and execution plans that keep systems mission-ready.

Sustaining Engineering

What it is: Managing upgrades, configuration changes, and continuous improvement throughout the system’s operational life.

Why it matters: Systems evolve. Without sustaining engineering, old issues linger, performance degrades, and costs spiral. This element ensures capability improves based on real-world performance data.

How Hammerstone delivers: We support and integrate with your engineering change process, producing change requests, configuration management artefacts, and performance-driven improvement plans aligned with S-Series IPS Specifications (S3000L, S4000P, S1000D) where applicable.
